Culture and Assimilation
Grade 5 Social Studies
This lesson was an introduction to culture and assimilation. I realized that in order for the students to understand the full meaning behind assimilation they would first have to understand what culture is and why it is important to people. The lesson went very well and the students were able to have a meaningful discussion about how Indigenous people in Canada faced assimilation.

This lesson was a great learning experience for me because I had not taught a math lesson up to that point in my teaching experience. Overall the students were engaged, worked hard and had fun while practicing working with equations around money. I learned a lot from this lesson that I can implement if I teach this lesson again.
